Printing from your android device inside Carmel

Printing from Your Tablet

Save the document you wish to print.
Click on the Student Printing Icon located on your tablet home screen.
This will bring you to a screen to search for the file to be printed.
Select the job to be printed.( The default for the print jobs is double-sided.)
Select any other properties: one-sided, staples, hole punch, multiple copies, etc.) When you are satisfied with the settings, click on OK.
Click on Print.
The print jobs will be stored in the queue for 8 hours. After that time, the jobs will be deleted and you will have to resubmit your job.



Retrieving Your Print Job

You can retrieve your print jobs from either of the two printers dedicated for student tablet printing. One is located in the northwest corner of the North Crossroads (on the side of the Tab Lab). And the other is located in the southwest corner of the South Crossroads (to the right of the statue of Mary).
            To retrieve your job from either printer, go to either of the printer locations.
            From the touchscreen, enter your userid and password (which will be provided to you via e-mail)
            After you have entered your credentials, a list of your job(s) will appear. Select the job you wish to print and click Print.
            Continue until all jobs have been printed and then click on Logoff.
            Your account will then be debited the appropriate amount

           
Adding Money to Your Printing Account

Each print job costs ten cents. You will receive e-mail notification when your balance falls to one dollar. To add more money to your account, go to www.authorize.com
Enter your account information and hit enter (this account information will also be provided to you via e-mail).
Enter the amount you wish to add and then enter your credit card information. Click on Enter and your account will be credited with the amount requested.

Your account balance will be credited the appropriate amount

Initial Setup for 2013-2014 School Year

Initial Set up:
A) Take Tablet out of the bag
B) Turn on tablet by holding power button (top left) for a few seconds
C) Unlock tablet by sliding the lock to the far right of the circle
D) Add time zone...
    1) Click settings button (see screen below)
    2) Scroll down left menu and tap DATE & TIME
    3) Tap SELECT TIME ZONE
    4) Scroll down and tap CENTRAL TIME
Time should adjust 5 hours and show the correct time. If not, be sure you selected CENTRAL TIME and not Central America!

E) Adjust security settings for installing 3rd party apps:
1) In Settings, tap SECURITY (3 choices up from Date & Time)
2) Scroll down a little to UNKNOWN SOURCES (under Device Administration heading) and tap the checkbox on the right:
 

3) Tap OK on the warning pop-up:
 
    Be sure that you see a blue checkbox on Unknown Devices before you exit...

Tap HOME icon (2nd icon in lower left), or push HOME button (top right button on front face), to return to the main screen.

F) FAVORITES:
   
1) Go to your internet browser (tap GLOBE icon in center of screen).
2) Once on your website (i.e. http://cchs11startup.blogspot.com/), tap the STAR icon (top right, left of the magnifying glass).

3) Tap OK to save the site.

5) To access favorites, tap the STAR-RIBBON in upper right (right of the magnifying glass). You will see screenshots of your favorite websites and default favorites. 


TURN OFF WORD PREDICTOR:
If you are typing and see words appear on the bottom (that are trying to predict what you're writing), you can turn off this feature by changing your default keyboard type.
 

Settings --> Language and Input --> Default --> choose English (US) - ANDROID keyboard.
  

Google Account Activation:
1) Open the Internet browser by tapping the GLOBE icon (in center of screen), or push GLOBE button on right (2nd from bottom, on front of tablet)

2) Go to www.google.com, and sign in (link is in upper right corner)  
3) Your userID is “FIRSTNAME.LASTNAME.20XX@corsairs.carmelhs.org
(replace XX with your graduation year)
Password: “legaldept”

4) You will need to change your password the first time you log on.
(Write your email address and new password down on a piece of paper, in case you forget it)

5) Tap the HOME icon in the lower left corner of the screen (2nd icon), or press the HOME button on the right (top most button), to go back to main screen.

6) TAP THE SETTINGS ICON
7) TAP ACCOUNTS & SYNC (under PERSONAL section, 1st choice)
8) TAP “ADD ACCOUNT” (in upper right corner)
9) CHOOSE “GOOGLE” FOR TYPE
10) CHOOSE “EXISTING”
11) ADD YOUR USER ID (firstname.lastname.year@corsairs.carmelhs.orgAND PASSWORD



Absolute Account Activation:
A) In your Web Browser (tap on the GLOBE), go to: https://ctm.server.absolute.com/Download.aspx/u3dudggt2yxinmhkrbnf/agent
B) Tap the DOWNLOAD button.

C) Once download completes, open and launch file by tapping bottom right corner (system tray), and then tapping the file name:

FINDING DOWNLOAD FOLDER: If you do not see the downloaded filename in the lower right corner, or if it disappears, you can go to your DOWNLOADS folder. To access it, go to your home screen - tap the home icon in the lower left - and then tap the 6 boxes in top right of screen. This is your APPS MENU. Look for the DOWNLOADS folder here. Tap DOWNLOADS and then tap your downloaded file to launch it.

D) Tap install in the next screen:

E) On next screen, tap OPEN:


(Tap OK on the Compatibility Zoom info screen, to get rid of tip)




F) On next screen, tap INSTALL APPLICATIONS:



G) Tap OK on the next screen:


H) On next screen, the Installer application will ask you to uninstall the Installer. Tap OK:



Absolute App Install:

1) Go to: https://absolute.cchs.carmelhs.com/profile/enrollment.mdm

2) Enter your Carmel username (i.e. JSmith).
3) Password is “legaldept”
4) Domain is “cchs”
5) Tap the first bubble, “This device is a company device.”
6) Tap LOGIN.



7) Absolute App will download to tablet. Tap on bottom right to open downloads, then click on “AbsoluteApps-...” to launch installer:


8) Tap INSTALL:


9) Tap OPEN:


10) Tap OK:


11) Enter “Absolute.cchs.carmelhs.com” in Server Address:

12) Tap SAVE SERVER (see above).

13) Wait a few moments for a pop-up window to appear...
Tap ACCEPT:


FINISHED!!!
Congratulations! Your tablet is all set for an exciting, new school year! Take good care of your new friend!



 Can't download CTMobile.apk (first Absolute download)?
1)   Get USB drive from Mr. Schultz or Mr. Vela.
2)   Remove Tablet from case by popping tablet slightly forward (on top) and then gently pulling up.
3)   Insert USB drive on bottom of tablet
4)       Pop-up will ask you if you want to launch USB utility. Click START UTILITY.
5)       Click the USB DRIVE bubble on top, and then check the .apk file (CTMobile) on left:
 

6)       Click COPY (on top) and then choose Internal SD:
7)   Tap OK and check that file appears (see below).
8)       Remove USB.
9)       Go to Google Play Store (top left icon on home screen) – search for ASTRO File Manager (it’s free).
10)       Download and install Astro.
11)       Launch Astro (from home screen, tap six boxes in top right of screen and then tap ASTRO).
12)   Tap “Manage my files” (on top):
13)   Tap CTMobile and choose INSTALL…
14)   Install app (see previous section if you need help)

Warranty and Broken Tablets

If you experience ANY problems with your tablet, bring your tablet to the TAB LAB

Here is the warranty information for the talbets:

"Accessories" (stylus / folio / charger) will run out of warranty over the summer, then the broken parts will no longer be covered "for free". 

If you broke ANYTHING  - Round it up and bring it in! 

I promise you will feel better once this task has been completed. . . .we will make it as painless as possible.

1 Year Warranty (expired 7-1-2013):
Keyboard Folio
A/C Adapter (cable and block)
Stylus
Battery

3-Year Warranty (expires 7-1-2015)
Tablet

If you have parts that break after the 1 year warranty expires (July 1st) you will need to purchase replacements.  It is important to remember that when you turn in your Tablet (when your enrollment at CCHS ends) you will be required to turn in working items.
